Documentation in smaller companies

A documented system is a useful way of getting through an audit although it is often said, that small companies should avoid too much documentation. I find that auditors use all the standard clauses of ISO 9001 2015 to phrase their pre-audit questions. A documented system that mirrors the standard clauses beats 'em to the point every -time. Do you agree, or would you risk a lesser documented system for the smaller outfit?

In my opinion small companies should indeed, avoid too much documentation, and that is actually the aim of the new standard ISO 9001:2015.
