Training provider

1. If I do my exam with IGC, instead of IRCA or PECB which are more expensive, how will this impact me in the long term?

Answer: I've searched on IGC site (https://www.igcert.org/) and couldn't find if the ISO 27001 auditor course is accredited, so this course wouldn't have an worldwide recognition as lead auditor courses provided by IRCA and PECB.

2. If in future I want to train people for ISO 27001 LA, will passing the exam be sufficient or I need to pass some additional exams or gain any points etc like the ITIL track? Will this really matter in the long run I write with IGC or PECB?

Answer: Passing the exam is the only requirement for someone to provide training for ISO 27001 LA as an individual (this way you can provide evidence of competence to provide such training). The main point is that to work for training providers (and have more chances to provide training) you have to be approved in an exam related to an accredited course, like those from IRCA and PECB.

3. What is your view as why the exam fee for PECB is so expensive (~400 USD) in comparison to IGC (~200 usd though not sure exact, but surely cheaper) - what differentiation position/ USP, PECB have in the market that they charge higher exam fees?

Answer: By the information I gathered, the main reason for the price difference is that IRCA and PECB courses are accredited and ICG's is not. If you find that IGC's course is accredited, another explanation may be purely marketing issue, since IRCA and PECB are most recognized worldwide providers (I was not aware of this IGC until now).

For having competency, it is not mendacity to have accredited certificate. If you have good skill and required knowledge, your competency will be endorsed by your trainees. Now standard and/or guideline has any such requirements to have accredited certificate for delivering training and acquiring knowledge. It is all about branding and IRCA help them to make  the training and certification costlier.
