How to perform a desktop review of the organization for ISO 14001?
Assign topic to the user
A desktop audit is a review of the quality management system documentation to check the design of the management system and verify compliance with ISO 14001. Normally, it is done prior to an audit. How to perform it? Collect the environmental management system documentation, then determine which clauses are applicable to each document. Then, compare the content of each document with the applicable clauses. For example, the auditor can read the emergency procedure content and then compare it with clause 8.2 from ISO 14001. The auditor can report the audit findings from this comparison or can start writing his checklist to check the implementation status and verify the management system's effectiveness.
