ISO 14001 requirements
My question - Is there any requirement from GM ford or VW stating that the tier 1 supplier has to get ISO 14001 certification? and that is mandatory or not?
Where is it stated that the tier 1 supplier company has to get ISO 14001 certification?
Please clarify my question?

Concerning VW, in its 2018 Sustainability Report, it states:
“A certified environmental management system in accordance with ISO 14001 and/or EMAS is one of the ecological requirements our tier 1 suppliers have to meet.”
Concerning GM, it required all supplier facilities to be ISO 14001 certified by December 31, 2002.
Concerning Ford, it required all supplier facilities to be ISO 14001 certified by July 1, 2003.
Sources for GM and Ford requirement are difficult to find but it is well documented in news around the world from the beginning of the century.

Good morning Carlos,
Thank you for the information !
Could you please let us know in which (GM ford & VW)standard or manual stating that these information?
As I mentioned before, information about VW can be found in its “2018 Sustainability Report” (page 34) - https://www.volkswagenag.com/presence/nachhaltigkeit/documents/sustainability-report/2018/Nonfinancial_Report_2018_e.pdf
When it comes to Ford and GM, I remember a quality forum in 2000 where many tier 1 suppliers mentioned that in that day they received letters from GM, Ford, Chrysler, Honda with date to be certified.
An organization cannot get a Ford Q1 status without being ISO 14001 certified – please check “Ford GRI INDEX 2018/19” (pages 16 and 17) - https://corporate.ford.com/microsites/sustainability-report-2018-19/assets/files/sr18-gri.pdf
In the case of GM I could not find any official document stating what they requested in 2000.
